Flights.ca sells for $120,000 in private sale

DomainReport.ca

A significant .ca domain sale was announced yesterday in Ron Jackson's DNJournal.com sales report.

Flights.ca was sold by Canadian Rick Silver to RedTag.ca, an online travel site for $120,000.

This sale was the #3 dollar value sale for the week for all extensions, and the #1 country code extension sale.

Usually when there is a big .ca sale the news spreads fast through the Canadian domainer community in forums, but I have to say I didn't see or hear anything about this sale before Ron's weekly report.  It was great to see a large .ca domain sale so early in 2012.  Flights.ca is a premium keyword domain for the travel industry, and to those not familiar with .ca, it is highly used and known by Canadians.  Congratulations to Rick Silver and RedTag.ca on this transaction!

Another recent .ca sale I missed took place in December over at DomainNameSales.com.  OpenSkies.ca sold in the $3,000 to $5,000 range (DNS only gives price ranges for their sales).  Before you think this is another travel related sale, it looks like the domain is being used by an MRI company in Saskatchewan.

If you check out the DNS site, you'll see that they post domain sales, but also the domains they receive inquiries on and the price quotes they give.  Every so often there is a .ca domain listed.  It is one more resource that can be used to see how the overall domain market is doing, and what domains people are looking for.
