Baccarat.ca A Winning Bet at March 11 .CA Domain TBR Drop

This is the 500th post at DomainReport.ca!  I know that's not a huge amount for the full time domain bloggers, but not too bad for a part-time guy who focuses on the .ca Canadian market.

A total of 112 .ca domain names were caught in yesterday's TBR drop.  That is a pretty average number for recent times, and the quality of the drop was better than last week.

There was one .ca domain sale in the past week that I'm aware of, which was:

SantePlus.ca  -  $750 CAD  -  Private sale

This was one of my sales, for a domain I picked up in a TBR drop in 2011.  The buyer was from Quebec, and Santé is the french word for Health.  Apparently this domain will be used for a blog, but we'll see.  This was also my first sale through the DNS domain selling platform, brokering my own names.  The buyer entered bids of $250, $500, then $750 which hit my minimum offer amount, and I decided to accept it without further negotiation.  Usually I'll negotiate and request more than an offer, but this was a time where I was just looking to complete a sale, and in my opinion it was a fair offer.  Hopefully the inquiries keep coming at DNS.

I also recently negotiated and received an $800 US offer at DNS for a one word, first name .mx domain, but the potential buyer based in Mexico has since vanished.

Kerosene.ca is on auction at Sedo right now, with 4 days left to go and one bid at $1,500 US.

 Godaddy recently ended offering their affiliate program through Share a Sale, without much notice I might add.  I was using the Godaddy affiliate program through Share a Sale, after Godaddy stopped running their affiliate program in-house, so now I'm in that position I'm sure is familiar to other webmasters where you have to go and change all your affiliate links.  GoDaddy now only runs their affiliate program through Commission Junction and TradeDoubler.  So now I'm back at CJ, after not having used them for a long time.

 Two new gtlds that just went into general availability this week were .money and .coach.  At first .money sounds like it has great potential, but then again it could be too generic.  Does the money have to do with investing, loans, stocks, insurance, employment etc. or some get rich quick scheme?  For example, if you saw a domain NewYork.loans, you'd assume it would be a site where New Yorkers could apply for different types of loans.  If you saw NewYork.money, it could potentially go in any direction to deal with money.  I don't know, maybe we'll see some creative uses for it.  I see .coach as being more targetted and having some potential.  Aside from obvious sports coaching, there are life coaches, business coaches, personal wellness coaches, and on and on.  A city name with .coach could be used for any of those, so I registered Toronto.coach and Chicago.coach, two of the largest cities by population in North America.  I haven't registered many new gtlds, but I like to check on the first day of general availability to see what's available and taken, and what the premium registration fees are like.  .coach was asking around $1200/yr for names like Soccer.coach and Hockey.coach.  Both .coach and .money had some premium registration fees, but not too crazy high like some other new gtld's have been.

 While I said this week's TBR was better than last week's, it wasn't a whole lot better but did feature some good generics.  Some of the nicer .ca domains caught in the March 11 drop were:
