Bargains Galore at December 17 .CA TBR Drop + Two .CA Domain Sales

Today's .ca domain drop featured a total of 93 .ca domains that were caught.  That is a little lower than recent drops, but I think the name quality was better this week than last.

Here are a couple of recent .ca domain sales I'm aware of:

Musica.ca  -  $950 US  - sold at Sedo

BO.ca  -  $2,599 US  -  sold at Sedo

I wasn't able to find out who bought bo.ca, but it looks like the buyer of Musica.ca was Musica Music School Inc of Toronto.  Their current website domain is MusicaMusicSchoolToronto.com, so I think the shorter Musica.ca will be better for their promotion (easy to remember and spell) and for people who use it for an email address.  This is a good example of an organization changing to a one word .ca URL from a longer four word .com.  I'm sure Musica.com would cost a pretty penny being the Spanish word for music, but in Canada the Spanish language isn't used much, making a Spanish word .ca more attainable.

In other Canadian related domain news, the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) won the auction to run the new gtld .MLS with their bid of $3,359,000.  In the auction they beat out Afilias Limited.  I think it's pretty obvious that CREA will use the .mls extension somehow for their well known (and trademarked) Multiple Listing Services system of Canadian real estate.  Or perhaps it is some kind of defensive move.  Another organization that perhaps could have benefitted from this extension is the MLS soccer association.  CREA also owns Realtor.ca and MLS.ca.

Winebags.ca  (the .com is a full ecommerce website)
