Record Low for a .CA TBR Drop? How Come?

This week's .ca TBR drop on September 18 only featured 78 .ca domains that were caught.  The usual number of .ca domains taken in the drop is closer to 200.  In my many years of following the TBR, this week's number might be a record low.  Did one or two big players not show up for the drop?  Are .ca domain investors getting more picky, or holding off because of the new gtld's coming out?  Or maybe the list of available names was shorter this week (I didn't see it beforehand).  We'll see next week if a trend is developing, or maybe this was just a one-off occurrence.

There was only one .ca domain sale reported in the weekly DNJournal.com sales report, and it was a strange one.

IciRadio-Canada.ca  -  $6,000  -  sold at Sedo

Ici Radio Canada is a french language Canadian radio network of the CBC, which you can read about here.  The domain now shows as being owned by Mark Monitor International Canada Ltd., so perhaps they bought it on behalf of the radio network.  The domain currently doesn't resolve.

Back to the TBR, some of the better names that dropped this week were:

 Gimme.ca

Mort.ca  (first name and also a french word for 'death')

    Everyone knows with the new gtld release, everything other than .com is going to take a hit, this is why you have domains like ship.ca selling for $5K or less on forums today... money is taking a break, until it plays out.

      Didn't Flight.ca just sell for $110k?
      The new .whatever's will feed traffic to the .com's. O.co proved it.
