If you can stand to join one more social network, then take a look at Pheed.com
It is very similar to Twitter, with a few differences. It allows you to create a timeline with different types of feeds (or pheeds), including text, photos, videos, audio, voice notes, and live broadcasts. It looks like you can use it just like Twitter, or it's set up to upload other types of media.
The other twist is that you can let people follow you for free, or you can use their subscriber model where people would have to pay a fee to follow you. This could work well for some creative people who can generate a following of people who want to read or watch whatever they create, such as celebrities, sports stars, stock market analysts, authors, experts, and so on.
Some of the names I see on there already with subscriber models are Paris Hilton, Wale, Miley Cyrus, and Cheryl Burke. People like this could keep offering their Twitter account for free, but use Pheed to offer even more inside information and access to themselves for a fee (or phee - lol).
The other nice thing about Pheed is that there are still some good usernames available! Lots of LLL and one word names can still be had. If you have a Twitter account, you might also want to grab your same username in Pheed. Pheed integrates with Facebook and Twitter, so whatever you post on Pheed you can also send to your other accounts, which is a good touch.
I don't know how relevant Pheed will become, but if some popular accounts start getting followers, you may soon see their user basis take off.

Pheed is a new social media platform that enables you to share all forms of digital content, including text, photo, audio, video and live broadcast.
Users have the option to share for free or at a premium, either by applying a monthly subscription fee to their channel, or setting up a pay-per-view live broadcast event. In both cases, the the user can select his/her own pricing and earn directly.

do you think they could become really big?
You never know, if they can attract stars who will share a little more with paid subscribers, then yes. Someone like Lady Gaga doing an exclusive performance, or a Jim Cramer sharing stock tips with subscribers. Doesn't hurt to secure a few usernames while there are still some good ones available, and try Pheed out. I remember Twitter started out slow then took off.

Been watching Pheed for a while now, hope it gains traction. The interface is super smooth and clean and the big celebs are already charging for premium "subscriptions". Where there is money, there will be people.... I could see this one getting fairly large.
