Nov 26 .CA TBR Results, FF.ca Auction, and .Property domains

 First off, Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends in the US!  Here in Canada we celebrate Thanksgiving in October, but I think it's a much bigger holiday in the States when you consider the excitement of Black Friday comes right after, then Cyber Monday.  For those who don't know, Black Friday is becoming big in Canada too because Canadian stores don't want to lose out on sales to cross-border shopping in the US.  My last newspaper was full of Black Friday flyers and specials being advertised as Canadian retailers hope to keep those shopping dollars in Canada.  Regardless, I hope you all have a great and relaxing day today with family.

I will get to yesterday's TBR drop below, but first wanted to note that I've dipped into my second new gTLD buys this past week.  I bought a couple .Quebec last week , but this week took part in the general availability of .property domains.  I think .property has a shot because it is used frequently in the real estate industry, and also has meaning outside of real estate.  I tried to pre-register about six of them that were Cityname.property related, but didn't get any because they were held back by the registry.  These weren't even very large cities but small to medium size cities in my region.  It looks like most city names of any size were held back by the registry and are available to buy through a link to the DomainNameSales.com website.

After my .property pre-registrations didn't work out, I manually checked to see what was available, and got some that I was surprised weren't held back.  Among the .property I was able to get were:

Kona.property
Sports.property
Delta.property (city beside Vancouver BC)
WestKelowna.property

 90210.property  (famous Beverly Hills zip code)
10011.property (New York zip code)

 VancouverBC.property  (I also registered VancouverBCproperty.com)
SurreyBC.property  (large city beside Vancouver)

As you can tell I focused on domains that are city names or related to cities.  'Sports' property can be autographs, memorabilia, teams, etc.  I was surprised that less than 2,000 names were registered on day one, but if all keywords had been available it would have been much higher.  It will be interesting to see if the premiums get sold and used for real estate websites.

Yesterday's .ca TBR domain drop was one of the better ones in a while, with a total of 171 .ca domains being grabbed.  A rare LL.ca was included in the list, FF.ca.  this domain went to auction after the TBR drop and was heading north of $5,000 in bids until I lost track.  The auction kept getting extended by a few minutes every time a last-minute bid was placed.  If you know the final price please post in the Comments below.

    Any opinions between .property vs. .properties?

      I prefer .property for a realtor or real estate. A land developer or property holding company might prefer .properties
